First-time use:
- Boil water once and discard it to ensure that you kettle is clean inside
- Wipe to exterior with a damp cloth
Daily maintenance:
- Always unplug and cool before cleaning
- Wipe body wit damp cloth - avoid harsh chemicals
- Descale regularly (See descaling)
Removal of Mineral Deposits:
- To maintain optimal performance, your kettle should be descaled regurlaly. Mineral deposists from tap water can build up on the heating plate, reducing efficiency.
- You may use a commercially available descaler and follow the manufacturer's instructions, or you can use white vinegar as a natural alternative (See descaling).
Descaling:
- Fill the kettle with 3 cups of white vinegar. Add water until the liquid covers the bottom surface of the kettle.
- Leave the solution in the kettle overnight to break down the mineral buildup.
- In the morning, discard the solution.
- Fill the kettle with clean water, bring it to a boil, and discard the water. Repeat 2-3 times to completely remove any vinegar odor.
- If there are any remaining stains, gently wipe them away with a damp cloth.
